Daniel Parente, MD PhD, is a board certified family physician and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC). He serves as research director for the KUMC family medicine residency program and is an associate editor for the academic journal Family Medicine.


Dan's research program involves the application of advanced computational methodologies - such as artificial intelligence (Al), machine learning (ML), and multivariable analyses - to improve the quality of primary care.


Dan's recent work has focused on applying large language models to critical assessment of the scientific literature and to medical education.
